Krissi’s journey to optimal health began with a connection to nature.
Born in Oranageville, Ontario Krissi’s love of the mountains brought her to the Canadian Rockies which she called home for over 15 years. Krissi worked in the ski and snowboard industry helping running and developing kids programs and teach skiing & snowboarding at Sunshine Village Resort, Fernie Alpine and has done international seasons at Happo One & Niseko Village Resorts in Japan, and Craigieburn Valley Club Field in New Zealand. Now Krissi and her husband have settled in the ski-culture town of Collingwood, Ontario.
Throughout her mountain adventures and travels Krissi found a draw to a more holistic lifestyle. Eating whole foods, reading health blogs and buying every new cookbook, a real passion for cooking and nutrition developed. While working at Nutters Bulk and Natural Foods in Canmore the spark had been lit. Her health and well being started to improve and the more she learned the more she wanted to teach others. From here Krissi went onto become a Registered Holistic Nutritionist at the Canadian School of Natural Nutrition where she won the only Award for all graduating students: The Directors Award. This award recognizes the student that shows kindness, good nature and a passion for the industry to her teachers and fellow classmates. Krissi's love of nutrition and food shines.
Krissi's own health struggles through adrenal fatigue, hormone imbalances, IBS, anxiety, stress management and ADHD lead her to specialize in these fields expanding to digestive disorders and food intolerances. It wasn’t until she focused on her digestion did the real healing begin.
If Krissi isn't studying, reading a blog or a cookbook (yes, she reads them like books) she is in her kitchen testing, tasting and trying new recipes, elixirs and tinctures. Krissi believes a lot of the answers to optimal health can be found in nature. Her goal is to get people to look in the metaphorical "kitchen" to see where their food comes from and support local environmentally sustainable farmers in order to nourish the earth and our body. Krissi's personalized whole food approach turns your kitchen into your own "farm"acy. Finding the unique foods and supplements to further your goal to optimal health.
The health industry is a growing industry with more information available to us daily. To change and grow with the industry Krissi continues to write her blog and continue learning by attending graduate classes at Canadian School of Natural Nutrition. In January 2015 Krissi graduated as a Culinary Nutrition Expert through the Academy of Culinary Nutrition. Starting in September 2017 Krissi is hitting the books again. This time studying Functional and Clinical Nutrition.
Shred snacks is Krissi's first food project providing healthy snacks to shredders whether that be skiiers, snowboarders, mountain bikers, etc.
